How long has Urlaub Housing Software been in business?
UHS has been in business since 1995. UHS was previously called “Housing Software Systems” (HSS). In 2022, we spun-off from the software business from Urlaub & Co., PLLC (a fee accounting and consulting firm) and changed our name to “Urlaub Housing Software”.
Is the software web / internet-based?
Yes, the platform is internet-based, which allows our clients the flexibility to log into UHS from anywhere with an internet connection. Data is secured and backed up to a cloud-based server minimizing the risk of a data breach or data loss.
What HUD programs does your software support?
We currently provide modules for the Low Rent Public Housing program and the Housing Choice Voucher program. UHS also has an electronic Help Desk and Knowledgebase of helpful topics on how to use the software and HUD’s program rules. In the near future, we plan to provide modules for tax credits, Rural Development, and multifamily units.
Who are UHS’s clients?
There are approximately 200 housing agencies that use UHS for their management software. Our clients manage public housing and / or HCV units, with the typical agency managing about 200 to 250 units.
Is there a module for printing checks?
Both the Low Rent and HCV modules accommodate the printing of checks. The system also tracks vendor and landlord year to date amounts paid and will allow the user to print IRS form 1099s at the end of the year.
Does the software track waiting list applicants?
UHS provides a waiting list which tracks applicants on both the Low Rent and the HCV modules. The waiting list is included with the price for each module.
How does the software stay current with new regulations?
The software company was founded by partners with extensive experience in the housing industry and also work closely with HUD. Our firm stay up to date with current regulations as they affect housing authorities. Any new regulations are analyzed to determine whether the UHS software needs to be updated regarding 50058 data or other reporting requirements.
Does the software provide reports that can be used for tracking tenant receivable and security deposit balances?
The software was designed by fee accountants who understand the need for reports to track tenant accounts receivable and security deposit balances for financial statements. In addition, many of the reports offered in the software came from requests by clients to have specific reports designed. This is truly a software systems designed by housing professionals!
How much does UHS cost?
UHS’s pricing is transparent and all-inclusive. The price is based on the number of units administered by the agency and the UHS modules that are purchased. Included in the annual software license fee are software updates and support and licenses for 2 users per module.
